Memorial Holiday Weekend Activities and Town Facility Hours

Veterans salute the flag

There’s a lot happening in Windsor this Memorial Day weekend.

The weekend fun kicks off on Friday, May 26, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m, with Yappy Hour at the Poudre Pooch Park, 7025 Eastman Park Dr. There is a special off-leash area for dogs to play, and humans can enjoy a selection of local food trucks with adult beverages for purchase. Beverage sales benefit the local Big Bones Canine Rescue in Windsor. Yappy Hour is hosted on the fourth Friday each month through August and is sponsored by Poudre Pet & Feed Supply, McDonald Toyota and RE/MAX Alliance.

On Saturday, weather permitting, enjoy several water options. Float the Poudre River at the Eastman River Experience, check out watercraft rental options at Windsor Lake, or swim at Chimney Park Pool as each of these opens for the season.

The Eastman Park River Experience, 7025 Eastman Park Dr., opens with tube rentals for the season starting Saturday, May 27, and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Rentals are available at the concessions pavilion by the playground. Single tubes and kids’ kayaks can be rented for $5 each for the entire day and double tubes can be rented for $8 each for the entire day. New this year, tube valet service is available to take rented tubes from the concession area to the public river entrance. Water depth and flow may vary and visitor discretion is advised.

Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and CORCLs are available for rent at Windsor Lake, 100 N. 5th St. The cost is $10 for 30 minutes.

Chimney Park Pool, 421 Chimney Park Dr., is open Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m.  Regular season hours are Sundays, 1 to 6 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 5 p.m., Fridays, noon to 6 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Daily admission is $3 for children 5 and under, $4 for youth ages 6 to 17 and anyone over 50, $5 for visitors ages 18 and older, and there is a family rate that includes up to four people for $15. Both swimmers and non-swimmers must pay admission fees for entry. Season passes are also available.

On Monday, May 29, at 9 a.m., American Legion Post 109 will host a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony in conjunction with the Town of Windsor at Lakeview Cemetery located at the southwest corner of Hwy. 392 and Hwy. 257. Public parking is available in the field west of the cemetery.

Windsor also offers several other fun activities including a public archery range, soft path and paved trails, parks and more. For more information about each of these activities and more, check out the Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Department website at recreationliveshere.com.

Windsor Town Hall, Public Services, the Police Department, and the Community Recreation Center will be closed Monday, May 29. Windsor Police remain on duty. Administrative facilities and the Community Recreation Center will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday.
