If you’ve been down by Windsor Lake over the last several years you might have wondered what the “slightly haunted” looking white house nearby was. Well, this August you have a chance to find out!
Over the last few years, the Town of Windsor completed a historic preservation project on the Eaton House—a historic, white house situated near Windsor Lake and the Windsor History Museum. This spring, it opened as one of the newest Museum sites known as “the Eaton House”.
Constructed in 1902 by early Windsor resident and irrigation pioneer, Benjamin Eaton, to house his ditch riders, the house will now serve as a classroom space and, currently, home to the Cache la Poudre River National Heritage Area headquarters.
To celebrate the opening of the building, the Windsor Museums are inviting YOU to join us on Friday, August 15th from 6-8:30 for an evening of fun at Explore! An Evening at Eaton. Join the Museums with guests including the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, West Greeley Conservation District, Clearview Library District, 4H, and more for an open evening of exploration! Come learn about the building’s history and preservation, take a peek inside, try your hand at water games and experiments, get some food from a nearby food truck, and celebrate all things water and history!
This event is FREE and open to all ages. Whether you’re a history buff, a curious kid, or are just a little nosey and want a look inside the formerly haunted building (or is it?) come on down to the Eaton House (130 N 5th St) on August 15th!
