[ARCHIVED] New Year, Who This?

By Chris Bates, Arts & Exhibits Specialist

IMG_61302025 was an exciting year for the Town of Windsor’s art scene. On the public art side we completed our first traffic signal cabinet mural, located at Holstein and County Road 5. We launched the Sold of Windsor, a sculpture on loan program, that resulted in seven sculptures being installed on the west side of Windsor Lake. The Town partnered with the Windsor Downtown Alliance to get murals painted at Happi Yogi and Hayden Outdoors along with artist Jodie Bliss, who installed two sculptural benches at Kyger Reservoir. The Windsor Arts Commission also hired six artists to showcase their crafts at community events, through the ArtLive! program.  The Art & Heritage Center hosted ten exhibitions with over 2,100 attendees. With the addition of exhibits like the Visual/Verse Collaborative Show and our first solo exhibitions, the potential of the gallery space has been expanding. The Art & Heritage Center had one of its most exciting years to date and this year is set to be even better.

In 2026 we will be continuing the SoL of Windsor program, ArtLive!, painting more traffic cabinet murals and adding wind turbine bench murals, painting murals IMG_4631for the town’s entryway signs, and installing new signs at the Community Recreation Center to an already ambitious public art calendar. The Art & Heritage Center will be hosting eleven art shows that will have art receptions nearly every month.

Be on the lookout for calls for artists, show announcements and more!
